EXPERIENCE THE WONDER
OF THE LEARNING CENTER
On view October 9, 2022 - January 22, 2023, A Sense of Community: Celebrating Jerry Pinkney’s Legacy explores Pinkney’s role as a mentor to, and model for, artists and illustrators of color. It includes the work of nine contemporary illustrators—Charnelle Pinkney Barlow, Elbrite Brown, Bryan Collier, Gordon James, Oge Mora, Brian Pinkney, James Ransome, Shadra Strickland, and Eric Velasquez—who are, like Pinkney, dedicated to making children’s literature more inclusive and diverse.
Explore these worksheets, tap into your creativity, and develop ideas to create your own picture book.
ART HISTORY TIMELINE
Look up in the Learning Center to see the 80 silhouettes that form an art timeline. They were selected to represent important art moments around the world and throughout history.
Timeline Cards are photographs of artworks created by people from different cultures and time periods.
What more can you see, what more can you do, what more can you imagine? Be sure to ask for a Book and Art Bag to use during your visit.
