Are you curious to learn more about Joseph Cornell, Ray Johnson, and Yayoi Kusama? Join scholars for two engaging, virtual talks that focus on both the artistic friendships explored in Miniature Worlds and the artworks that these friendships inspired. Free.
April 13: KMA Associate Curator Emily Handlin will delve into the relationship between Cornell and Johnson, focusing on the prominent role Cornell played within the network of visual references that Johnson incorporated into his multi-layered collages.
June 1: Midori Yoshimoto, Gallery Director and Professor of Art History at New Jersey City University, will discuss Kusama’s life and work in the downtown art scene of 1960s New York and her interactions with other artists, including Cornell.
